Spring (April–June)

Warm days, green hills and fewer crowds. Waterfalls are fullest and it’s ideal for city breaks and hiking. In 2027, EXPO opens on 15 May.

Summer (July–August)

Hot (often over 30 °C), lively and full of festivals: Guča and Nišville in August, river beaches and splavovi in Belgrade. In 2027 EXPO runs until 15 August, so book early.

Autumn (September–October)

Still warm in September, harvest and wine season, and beautiful colours in the mountains. One of the best times to visit.

Winter (December–March)

Skiing, Orthodox Christmas on 7 January and Serbian New Year on 14 January.

Tip: September is often overlooked. It is still warm, with harvest and wine season, and the summer crowds have gone.
