Is it safe to drive around Serbia?
Yes, with normal caution. The motorways (Belgrade–Novi Sad, Belgrade–Niš and the Miloš the Great motorway toward Čačak) are in good condition and paid at toll booths, by card or cash. Mountain and village roads are narrower and slower than the map suggests, and local drivers can be impatient, so leave extra time. Headlights must be on day and night, police speed checks are frequent, and it is best to avoid long drives on unlit rural roads after dark.
